CLASS SUMMARY

WEEK 7

This week, Mr. Hafiz showed us how to add texture to illustration shapes and make a transparency gradient mask with Illustrator. And there was still a new assignment we hadn't started yet, so he showed an example of a decisive moment.

WEEK 8

(A supplementary class)

In this class, we did a replacement class of classes that we didn't do before. Mr. Hafiz showed us how to use the Pencil Tool in Ai. So we needed to practice making complicated shapes using the Pencil Tool.

WEEK 9

Mr. Hafiz taught us about Secondary Action and Animation in this week's class. It was an essential thing for the Assignment. And he told us what we should be careful about when we do this activity because we are not a class that makes animations.

Project 2: Exercise 2 - Decisive Moment

I chose a Korean urban legend called The Legend of Deoksugung Stonewall Road. I thought of adding some Korean traditional style for this project.

First of all, I researched the legend and mood board.

And then, I started to sketch. I tried not to feel the same way because it was difficult to develop an idea.

After taking WEEK 9's class, I realised what I did wrong and what I misunderstood about the Assignment. So I decided to modify my work for better results.

Fig 2.2.13 Modified version (Week 9 / 22.11.2023)

First of all, I changed some designs in my work. And then I convert it to a GIF file using Adobe Photoshop. At first, something in the last scene didn't have a cracking effect, but I added it at the end because I think I needed that effect to represent the urban legend.

However, I felt this GIF was too fast.

Fig 2.2.15 GIF 2 (Week 9 / 22.11.2023)

After editing two more times, I could create a GIF file with a moderate speed. Strangely, it was tricky because the speed depended on where it was opened.

REFLECTION

Experience

This was undoubtedly a challenging effort. To begin with, knowing the task given by Lector appears to have been a critical aspect of completing the assignment. I wasn't sure what type of conclusion he sought, so I deliberated on how to proceed.

Observations

I spent a long time reading seniors' blogs to grasp these chores. First and foremost, I attempted to understand what the professor desired via the assignment because I was not fluent in English and may have misread it. However, I believe this project was a little challenging for me. I was anxious to discover the day when I was losing confidence while working on the task, but I had no alternative but to finish it because the deadline was approaching.

Findings

While carrying out this work, I felt that I lacked creativity and a lot of technical abilities. This work was very challenging, but I believe it was a valuable experience to conquer these challenges. Even if the outcome is disappointing, I believe I should accept it and try harder.
