CLASS SUMMARY

WEEK 12

Unlike last week, this class was conducted online as before. In class, Mr. Hafiz explained the Final Project similar to last week. And he tried to answer questions about the project to the students.

WEEK 13

In this class, Mr. Hafiz explained to us how to use various methods to improve our final project work. First of all, he gave students advice on trying to mix the utilization of what they have learned in typography, IVN, and DPI. He was concerned that the proportion of typography and DPI might be too high, and he also showed how typography classes and IVN could go well together.

Final Project: Self-Titled

This project required incorporating of typography (typo) and digital photography and image (DPI) in IVN lessons, which was unusual. It was an intriguing and somewhat difficult topic since I had to blend everything I learned in these three semesters to create a poster for my self-portrait. I began my project by searching Pinterest for things for reference.

Moodboard for Final Project (Week 11 / 6.12.2023)

I tried to see as many different kinds of posters as I could on Pinterest. So after that, I started sketching my idea to materialize it. I felt like I was getting the hang of it while very simple sketching ideas that came to mind.

Fig 4.1 Sketch (Week 11 / 6.12.2023)

After confirming that it's a portrait poster, I wanted to express two aspects of myself. I wanted to express the bright side of myself believing that everything will be fine and the dark side of me who sometimes dreams up and wants to stay as it is. As I searched, I noticed that I'm interested in some artistic brush-like techniques, so I wanted to use the illustrations I've learned in IVN. Also, I'm thinking a lot about my dreams and my studies, so I thought the word that can express that situation is Polar night.

Once I've finished the first draft, I feel like I'm missing something but I've been looking at this poster for so long that I couldn't see what was missing. So I wanted feedback from Mr. Hafiz.

After receiving feedback, I tried to modify my work with feedback to produce better results.

After I finished the poster, I started animating it. In fact, I didn't know I had to animate it, but I found out about two days before the end of the task, so I had not had much time to prepare. So the animation was produced quite hastily.

When I modified it with Photoshop, the movement was soft, but when I exported it with GIF, I saw it stuttered a little.

Unlike the color of the poster, it was regrettable that there were some parts that were slightly cloudy, but this was the best, so it was finally completed.

FEEDBACK

WEEK 13

Specific Feedback: Try to change the kerning and spacing of the letters.

General Feedback: The overall design is good. But I think it would be better to move the letters little by little.

REFLECTION

Experience

This project was difficult and difficult because it felt like I was making my poster freely. In particular, I think it was one of the difficult parts to complete using what I learned in other lectures.

Observations

It was difficult, but it was also an opportunity for me to know what my problems were. I think I'm slightly lacking in creativity or color. This is because it felt difficult to create new art with creativity unless there was a clear example. The more autonomy I was given, the wider the range of things I could do, so I think it felt more difficult.

Findings

Still, I think it's a good experience like other projects. In particular, I felt shy to try to make a poster using my photos, and honestly, it was embarrassing to keep looking at the poster, but it was fun.
