WEEK 6
WEEK 7
Task 2
For Assignment 2, we continued developing and documenting our design process in Figma. We expanded our research and analysis by creating sections such as the Empathy Map Canvas and User Persona to better understand our target users and their needs.

We then moved on to the Ideation stage of the Design Thinking process. During this phase, we used the Crazy 8 technique to rapidly generate ideas as a team. While Crazy 8 can be done through sketching, I chose to focus on writing and developed eight different ideas in a short amount of time. This activity helped us explore multiple possible solutions before narrowing down our design direction.

During one of the classes, we asked the lecturer whether it would be acceptable to redesign our presentation slides. After receiving positive feedback and approval, we decided to completely revise the slide design. Although the original design matched the project theme, it felt visually plain and somewhat unattractive. We had previously added more illustrations and thematic images to improve it, but the slides eventually became cluttered and messy. As a result, we redesigned the presentation using a cleaner and more minimalistic approach while incorporating small thematic icons and illustrations to maintain visual consistency with the project topic.

In Week 9, we had our mid-term presentation. To prepare for it, we worked on our presentation structure and speech notes. Although we were not allowed to read directly from a script during the presentation, preparing one helped us organize the key points we wanted to communicate. My presentation section covered the interview findings and User Persona 1.

Before presenting to the client, the lecturer provided feedback to each team. After receiving the feedback, we quickly revised several slides to address the issues raised. Because of these last-minute changes, I also updated part of my presentation notes to ensure that the content remained accurate and aligned with the revised slides.

WEEK 8
Specific Feedback: The lecturer provided extensive feedback on the presentation structure and research flow. The executive summary needed to be more concise and clearly communicate the problem, findings, and proposed solution. More background research, references, and supporting evidence were required to justify the problem area. The problem statement needed to be rewritten to better reflect the target user, their needs, and the reasons behind those needs. Interview findings, user insights, and design opportunities needed to be presented in a more structured manner, with stronger connections between each section. The lecturer also recommended reorganising the presentation to improve information hierarchy, simplify unnecessary content, strengthen visual clarity, and ensure that the research process clearly supported the proposed design solution.
General Feedback: The team was advised to complete the presentation as soon as possible and ensure that all research findings, insights, and design decisions were clearly documented before the final presentation stages.
WEEK 9
Specific Feedback: The lecturer suggested adding more project-related visuals and illustrations to strengthen the presentation. Several slides were identified as missing, including those covering the project objective, Design Thinking process, research methods, and common findings from the interviews. The lecturer also recommended organising the presentation according to the Design Thinking stages, such as Empathise and Define, to improve clarity. Important keywords should be highlighted using bold typography and colour to improve readability. Additionally, interview findings should clearly distinguish between Muslim consumers and international Muslim travellers to avoid confusion.
General Feedback: The lecturer emphasised the importance of effective time management during presentations. Although the allocated presentation time was ten minutes, many groups exceeded the limit. Teams were encouraged to communicate their key points more concisely and structure their presentations more efficiently. Students were also reminded to complete the weekly online learning materials before class.
REFLECTION
Experience
During Task 2, I contributed to creating the Empathy Map Canvas and User Persona, participated in the Crazy 8 ideation activity, and helped redesign the presentation slides. I also prepared and presented my assigned section during the mid-term presentation.
Observations
I observed that tools such as empathy maps and personas helped the team better understand user needs. I also noticed that generating many ideas quickly encouraged more creative thinking and discussion.
Findings
This task taught me how research insights can be transformed into design opportunities. I also learned the importance of clear presentation design and effective communication when presenting project outcomes.
