    Final Project

For this Final Project, we were tasked with creating a 15–30 second video. Following my lecturer’s suggestion, I decided to add a zoom-in effect between two large columns.

    Fig. 1.2 Output 1 (Week 12 / 14.12.2024)

After creating the first version of the video, I felt that something was off. As the camera moved, the two columns and the character didn’t align properly with the shadows on the floor. To address this, I worked to ensure that the shadows, columns, and character moved in sync with the camera’s motion.

Despite multiple attempts, there wasn’t much improvement, so I reconsidered and realized that the issue was with the distance between the character, the columns, and the shadows. I then adjusted the distances between each layer.

After receiving feedback, I first made adjustments to Project 2 and then used the settings from Fig. 1.7 as a base, making small modifications along the way. I also used various effects in After Effects to replicate adjustment features like the curves tool I had used in Photoshop.

Then, to make the scene less plain, I added green screen videos that matched the Greek temple theme.

    FEEDBACK

    WEEK 14

Specific Feedback: Avoid adding motion effects that simulate entering between buildings, as they are unnecessary. Instead, use a slow-paced camera movement to keep the scene steady and clear.

General Feedback: Consider finding green screen footage from platforms like YouTube and overlaying 3D elements. Keep the motion simple and straightforward to maintain focus and avoid overcomplicating the visuals.

    WEEK 15

Specific Feedback: This should be fine for submission.

General Feedback: Ensure final details are polished.

    REFLECTION

    Experience

In the final project, there were changes made during Project 2, which meant I had to revise the final project along the way. Initially, I spent time readjusting to After Effects, and then I divided the layouts step by step, considering how each layout would appear when the camera zoomed in.

    Observations

Since this type of assignment was new to me, I lacked a proper understanding of how to divide the layouts. It wasn’t until later that I figured out which buttons to press to make the layouts appear correctly in the After Effects camera view and how to apply them to specific layers.

    Findings

Once again, I realized how important the lecturer’s feedback is. Every time I received feedback, the quality of the assignment noticeably improved, and it was rewarding to see the results getting better. Even small feedback led to significant changes, and I could see how the final product evolved. I feel like I need to further improve my understanding of color and continue studying After Effects.
