Project 2
In Project 2, the goal was to add more detailed elements to the final result created in Project 1 and make it look more like a realistic photo rather than a sketch.
So, I started by adding various textures to the result from Project 1 to make it more realistic.

After showing Fig. 1.1 to my lecturer, I made fixes based on the feedback I received. I replaced the floor with simple tiles that have minimal patterns, moved the buildings and columns a bit further back, and added more islands and sky on the left to create a wider view. I also thought the bridge looked a bit too plain, so I added some Greek statues.

When I showed Fig. 1.3 to my lecturer again, following his feedback, I added patterns to the bridge and made the overall shadows a bit darker. I also added highlights to the areas that needed more light.

After some time, when I showed the video of the Final Project to my lecturer, he mentioned that it still lacked a realistic feel. So, I added darker grays to enhance the depth. I boldly added shadows to the temple columns and buildings, and reduced the size of the character’s shadow. Following a suggestion to add a gradient, I subtly added yellow in the direction of the light and a dark blue shade to the right side.

FEEDBACK
WEEK 11
Specific Feedback: The tree feels disproportionately large and needs to be adjusted. The alignment between the ground patterns and the pillars should be more precise. Patterns in the distance should appear smaller and blurrier to enhance the sense of depth. Additionally, the lighting on the pillars, especially in the shadowed areas, requires attention to ensure it looks natural.
General Feedback: Instead of using a tree, consider incorporating a sky or distant mountains to create a greater sense of vastness. Maintaining proper perspective throughout the composition is essential, and it’s worth thinking about whether adding more elements could enhance the overall visual impact.
WEEK 12
Specific Feedback: The statue in the foreground should be slightly larger, while the second statue can be made a bit smaller to enhance the sense of depth. Add a bit more detail to the left wall, perhaps incorporating curves near the statue. The small enemy below should either be removed, slightly enlarged, or reduced to a single figure. Alternatively, you could reposition the wall to the side or extend it with additional curves for better composition.
General Feedback: The shadow beneath the left wall feels too empty and could benefit from added patterns. Darken the shadow of the curve above slightly for better contrast. The light in the sky is overly intense and should be toned down, with additional shadows incorporated throughout the scene. After this adjustment, consider adding focused lighting to the temple-like structure for emphasis. Finally, highlights should be added to enhance details and make the composition more dynamic.

WEEK 14
Specific Feedback: The character’s shadow appears too large and needs to be reduced. Adjust the colour correction to add a slight blue tone or enhance vibrancy, possibly using curves or a gradient with orange and blue for balance. The patterns on the legs should be made slightly darker to better define the area. The pillars still feel like they were pasted in and need to blend more naturally. Increase the gap or shadow line between the square and the pillar on the right, and add similar shadows or gaps between objects and the floor to ground them better.
General Feedback: Enhance the texture of the pillars by adding more pronounced cracks for a weathered effect. Once that’s done, apply slightly deeper shadows to the island for better depth. Finally, introduce a subtle glass-like texture across the composition for a more cohesive and polished look.
REFLECTION
Experience
In Project 2, the focus was on creating a more realistic image based on the work from Project 1. The ultimate goal was to complete the final version of the project, which would later be used to create a video for the final project. I aimed to improve the quality as much as possible by incorporating elements that unmistakably resembled a Greek temple. To represent Poseidon’s temple, I tried to fill the design with a blue aesthetic.

Observations
After staring at the screen for long periods, I sometimes found it hard to identify what was wrong with my work. To address this, I tried to divide my work into periods, but those periods kept extending, which made me realize I wasn’t managing my time well. Fortunately, the lecturer provided feedback outside of class hours, but due to my personality, I regret not being more proactive in asking questions.

Findings
Through this project, I realized how important time management is, no matter what task I’m working on or where I’m working. Once I fell behind on one part of the assignment, everything else got delayed as well, which was frustrating. Moving forward, I need to manage my time more diligently. Additionally, I developed a greater interest in light and shadow. Simply making the shadows darker made the image feel more solid, which sparked a desire to learn more about this aspect.
